Meet Dr. Merriam
Dr. Adam Merriam graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor’s degree in Basic Sciences and a major in Biology in 2003. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University School of Dentistry in 2008. In 2009, he completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at North Shore University Hospital and went on to complete 4 years of surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center/The Albert Einstein School of Medicine. Upon completion of his residency in 2014, Dr. Merriam entered into private practice with Dr. Kalman and Leading Edge Oral Surgery. Dr. Merriam is eligible for and studying to take the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery examination. Dr. Merriam is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York State Dental Association, and New York County Dental Society.
Meet Dr. Berman
Dr. Todd Berman is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in our Manhattan office. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He entered his post-doctoral General Residency training program at Tufts - New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1976 he began a 3 year surgical training program at The New York Hospital- Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY, where he attained the status of Chief Resident. Dr. Berman is certified by the American Board of Maxillofacial Surgery. Currently he is associated with Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, NY where he maintains full operating privileges and teaches in the residency training programs. Entering his 40th year of post training private practice in our Manhattan office, he offers a range of dental and oral surgery services to his patients. This includes dental consultation, oral surgery consultation, gum surgery, implants, exams, tooth extractions, CT scans, TMJ treatments, abscess drainage, facial reconstruction, jaw correction, facial biopsies, and laser surgeries. Dr. Berman maintains membership with the American Dental Association, First District Dental Society, New York State Dental Association, and New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has presented lectures for the national branch of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, of which he is a life fellow. He is married, has three daughters and enjoys skiing, photography, tennis, baseball, and shotokan karate.
Meet Dr. Kostakis
Dr. Vasilios Kostakis was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. He then moved to New York to attend Columbia University – College of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He went on to complete an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Northwell Health. During his residency, he underwent vigorous training in dentoalveolar surgery, head and neck pathology, anesthesia, maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, dental implants, and facial reconstruction. In his final year of residency, he served as Chief Resident at LIJ Medical Center/Northwell Health, Stony Brook University Hospital, and the Northport VA Medical Center.
Dr. Kostakis joined Leading Edge Oral Surgery in 2018 upon completion of his residency training. He prides himself on providing passionate, high quality care in the safest and most comfortable way possible. In his free time, Dr. Kostakis enjoys playing sports, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
