Dr. Vasilios Kostakis was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. He then moved to New York to attend Columbia University – College of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He went on to complete an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Northwell Health.

During his residency, he underwent vigorous training in dentoalveolar surgery, head and neck pathology, anesthesia, maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, dental implants, and facial reconstruction. In his final year of residency, he served as Chief Resident at LIJ Medical Center/Northwell Health, Stony Brook University Hospital, and the Northport VA Medical Center.

Dr. Kostakis joined Leading Edge Oral Surgery in 2018 upon completion of his residency training. He prides himself on providing passionate, high quality care in the safest and most comfortable way possible. In his free time, Dr. Kostakis enjoys playing sports, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
